A Survey on Dances With Wolves, a Film by Kevin Costnar

For my book statement, I chose the film Dance With Wolves, starring Kevin Costnar. The film was directed by Kevin Costnar and was made by Jim Wilson and Kevin Costnar. In addition, it stars Mary McDonnell as Stands With A Fist, and Graham Greene as Kicking Bird.

The movie takes place in america of America during its Civil Battle and begins when Lieutenant John Dunbar, played out by Kevin Costnar, of the Union Army, runs from a field medical center after his foot is going to be amputated as a result of a bullet wound. Instead of going through the pain of experiencing his feet removed and needing to live with only 1 foot for the others of his lifestyle if he survives the procedure, Dunbar decides to destroy himself. He gets on his equine and would make a suicidal charge toward the Confederate lines. He rides right before the Confederate firing lines and miraculously survives. He's congratulated and decorated by the Union army. They provide him the selection of any posting as an incentive. Dunbar chooses the Frontier, and when another soldier of the Union army asks him why, he says," I want to view it before its gone."

In an isolated and remote component of Dakota, Dunbar creates his outpost. He's the only white person around for miles. To maintain himself

occupied, he keeps a journal and writes his day to day routine. After his first face with the Indians, he records just how they slowly become familiar with each other. Dunbar accumulates his courage and attempts to communicate with
